What are white fillings?

What are they made of?
White fillings are made of either a strong and durable material called composite resin or dental porcelain which is even more durable. Both materials are tooth-coloured and can be matched to your natural tooth.

Although white fillings can perform the same function as amalgam fillings, there are still some cases and situations where amalgam is the right option. They’re also attached by bonding them to the natural tooth, which can help protect it from further damage. Another benefit of white fillings is that they don’t contain any mercury.

Can I replace my amalgam fillings with a white (composite) filling?
As mentioned above, there are still some cases where an amalgam filling is the most suitable option.
